Valencia June 29, 2021.- The Valencian cybersecurity company S2 Grupo has signed an agreement with the Civil Guard to train and advise them on the prosecution and treatment of growing telematic crimes.

The objective of this initiative, which is part of S2 Grupo's Corporate Social Responsibility and which will begin with the training of the Levante area unit and will be extended to the rest of the country, so that all agents to know how criminals operate in cyberspace, through what mechanisms and, in this way, improve the collection of data for complaints from the beginning until the investigation and resolution phases of cases found in this area.

“As the digitalization of society increases, we find an increase in telematic crimes. This has also introduced a new panorama for the Civil Guard, since they have encountered a different ecosystem where there is a high level of criminal activity and need to know and control in order to fight effectively”, explained José Rosell, managing-partner of S2 Group.

Our State Security Forces and Corps are very well trained and are among the most efficient in the world in prosecuting crimes. However, with the advent of telematic crimes and their worrying increase, we have to move forward and improve along these lines.

With the support of companies highly specialized in this area, we intend to combine their technological knowledge with the knowledge and experience in the prosecution of crimes of the Civil Guard, making our work more efficient in this new world we have invented: cyberspace", said General Hermida, Chief of the Civil Guard in Valencia.

“Our commitment to cybersecurity as one of the cornerstones for the security of society is complete. That is why, with this agreement, we want to contribute through the awareness and training of the State Security Forces and Corps, to being one step ahead of cybercriminals in order to anticipate a cyber-secure world. Knowing the threats they face in the digital field and how they develop will help them control a good number of variables that will be essential in the management and resolution of this type of crime. And this is a benefit that will redound to the entire society”, stated Miguel A. Juan, managing-partner of S2 Grupo.

The cybersecurity company has stressed that this action will allow agents to have a better knowledge of telematic crimes and that everyone, not only those specialized in the area of cybersecurity, will have essential knowledge to understand how cybercrime operates and thus be able to correctly gather the information, even for the collection of basic data necessary when establishing the complaints. In this way, the Civil Guard will increase its skills and knowledge to investigate them with the appropriate resources.

The purpose of this initiative to be developed by S2 Grupo experts is for them to empathize with people who have suffered a crime by this means and to understand the mechanisms by which it occurs so that they can ask questions, reassure and have enough tools to facilitate the investigation.

Some examples of this are if they have received a suspicious email or SMS message, if there is any evidence in social networks such as a video, if someone has been able to access their computer or phone without their knowledge, if they have installed an application from an uncontrolled store and, therefore, has “hacked” their device, etc.
