S2 Grupo, Globalan and TRC are awarded a contract worth more than 7 million euros to create the first Cybersecurity Center in the Canary Islands.
We are pleased to announce that S2 Grupo, together with Globalan Telecomunicaciones and TRC, has been selected by the Government of the Canary Islands to lead the creation of the first Cybersecurity Center (CSIRT-CAN) in the region. This contract, valued at 7.49 million euros, marks a significant milestone in the Canary Islands' cybersecurity strategy and has been funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
The objective of CSIRT-CAN (Computer Security Incident Response Center) is to develop a specialized cybersecurity center that will significantly improve the prevention, monitoring and detection of threats in the computer systems of the Public Administration of the Canary Islands and participating local entities. This innovative project will contribute to a safer digital environment for all Canary Islands citizens.
Rafael Rosell, commercial director of S2 Grupo, emphasizes that “The creation of CSIRT-CAN represents a paradigm shift in cybersecurity in the Canary Islands, going from an isolated system to a robust one, connected to the Spanish CSIRT network and with the capacity to extend to local councils, thus improving the cyberprotection of Canarian citizens”.
Coordination and Collaboration in the Cybersecurity Center of the Canary Islands
The CSIRT-CAN will not only support and improve cybersecurity monitoring and response capabilities, but will also work in conjunction and coordination with the Corporate SOC of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will continue to manage the security of the government's information systems and networks. Pedro Pablo Perez, Managing Director of TRC, comments: “Projects like this demonstrate Spain's drive to offer advanced technological solutions in cybersecurity. Being part of this project allows us to contribute to technological development in the Canary Islands and improve regional cybersecurity. In addition, the CSIRT has a vocation to disseminate and improve knowledge in cybersecurity, which is fundamental for prevention.”
The center will be key to strengthening the digital security infrastructure in the region, ensuring a more robust protection of sensitive data and improving the resilience of IT systems against cyber threats. Globalan's participation, as a local integrator, is essential for the success and long-term sustainability of the project, providing in-depth knowledge of the environment. Carlos Rodriguez, CEO of Globalan, underlines: “The initiative to promote this joint venture arises from the deep knowledge of the environment that we have. This guarantees the continuity of the project and is fundamental for its long-term success and sustainability. In addition, we will invest in the training and promotion of future professionals in Canary Islands universities and specialized vocational training centers”.
A Boost for Digital Transformation
With this contract, S2 Grupo, together with its partners Globalan and TRC, will contribute to the development of new capabilities in public administration, aligning with the objectives of the EU-funded Digital Recovery and Transformation Plan. This project will not only strengthen cybersecurity in the Canary Islands, but will also boost knowledge and training in cybersecurity, benefiting the whole community.
