The most sophisticated cybercrimes are learned in hacking schools.

The black market is organized to develop more powerful malwares. When talking about a computer crime
12 Jan 2017

... one tends to think of one person at the other end of the network with high technical knowledge who is trying to make a profit illicitly.

But the truth is that behind these crimes there is usually not a single person, but complex organizations with different roles and actors that manage, administer and execute their actions. From S2 GRUPO, experts in cybersecurity and APT (advanced persistent threats), they warn that fraud through the network has evolved and that more and more complex infrastructures are being used.

This increase in the degree of complexity implies that the criminals themselves cannot cover all the functioning and methods of attack on an infrastructure or organization. For this reason, roles are distributed within the different organizations to improve their efficiency. Some people within these organizations are responsible for creating and maintaining the resources used to commit criminal actions.

They create the tools that will be used for a fraud campaign. They can, for example, perform tasks to modify a malware and adapt it for some other purpose or to develop customized malware. In this line, Kaspersky Lab discovered that there are schools for cybercriminals, where courses are offered to teach anyone who wants to get on in the criminal world. Among the offered courses, there are some according to the type of crime in question, highlighting "How to be a Hacker", "Kit Spammer" or "How to be a Defacer".

The infrastructure of these criminal organizations is increasingly convoluted and nothing resembles the ones we usually see in Hollywood movies, where cybercrime is committed by a single hacker without the need for help. The reality is very different, there are large organizations behind and a market with an international geographical distribution where huge amounts of money move. IMAGE SUGGESTED TO ACCOMPANY THE NOTE:
